Louis Ostrowski

Lead Communications / IT

Born in NYC, Lou was a city boy, transplanted to the Hudson Valley in NY about 20 years ago. There, he found his passion just after leaving high school, with the New Paltz Fire Department. There, he trained and became a NYS Certified Interior Firefighter, Certified Apparatus Operator and Pump Operator, Confined Space, and Swift-water Boat Operator. He then moved on to the Port Ewen FD, and finally finding his home in Highland at Highland FD. He is also a loving father and devoted husband to his wife of 5 years, Tania.

His daytime job involves radio communications with the state of New York as well as information technology support, and is also his hobbies as well (He likes to say he's a man of limited interests :D )

Lou has been involved remotely since Irma with other teams and groups, and joined the core group of IDRT in November of 2021. When needed, he has been known to go Boots on the Ground in his immediate region as a responder and incident coordinator. He brings his knowledge from his firefighting and also the communications fields to IDRT to provide a safe communications infrastructure for our Boots on the Ground, and remote volunteers working critical logistics and call intake duties.
